The Cellular Tree Off Route 4

With the new phone tower off Route 4 getting some media and blog coverage, I decided to take a look at how cellular coverage in the area differs among the major carriers.
The maps below were taken from the cellular carriers' websites.
The lighter areas are the areas with less than perfect service. The darker the shaded area, the better the service.
I could not copy the map on the MetroPCS website, but based on their map, their service in the area is not great.

T-Mobile Coverage (the lighter areas here ar parks, not poor coverage areas)

T-Mobile 3G Coverage (the light areas get only GPRS/Edge coverage)
Sprint Coverage
Nextel Coverage
Verizon Coverage

Verizon 3G Coverage
AT&T 3G Coverage

AT&T Coverage

It look like another case of anti-semitism to me.

Oh, Esther. You beat me to the snark!

Let me play that card, Esther! Obviously, since T-Mobile is part of Deutsche Telecom (the German conglomerate), you would expect service to be poor in the Jewish areas of town.
Verizon Wireless is part owned by Vodafone, the bastards from England, where Sharia Law is about to take over, so they probably want to screw the Jewish areas as well.
AT&T/Cingular is actually the old SBC, based in San Antonio, Texas. Those same anti-semites who refused to elect Kinky Friedman as the Lone Star State's governor are likely trying to screw the Jews also.
Finally, Sprint/Nextel just put up the world's largest Christmas tree right in middle of the Jewish part of town, so you know they also have it out for the Jews.
What are we Jews to do? I'm thinking of maybe getting a carrier pigeon. You know, pigeons are kosher. So if after I get my message I eat the bird, I don't have to buy the $6.00 a pound chicken cutlets from that self-hating kosher butcher. There you go!

Interestingly, my neighborhood gets excellent mobile service and I'm an atheistic non-practicing (and therefore presumably self-hating) Jew married to a lapsed Roman Catholic.

I think a call to Abe Foxman and Bill Donohue is in order.

I just love getting my daily dose of ignorance from Out of Rightfield. FYI - many of the major executives of T-Mobile are observant Jews. One of the executives is a good friend of mine. We were talking many times over the years about T Mobile service (of which I am a subscriber). He explained to me the strong lobbying strength of Verizon against the other carriers keeps service spotty. This was a huge problem until of all things, Hurricane Katrina. It seems that the only cell towers that were still working and able to carry service down there were the T Mobie towers. Because of the national emergency, A lot of negotiating went on and within 24 hours of the worst damage T Mobile was allowing all the other carriers to use their towers. Because of this in many parts of the country, service for non-verizon companies has gotten better. Its a little better in the north east, but they still have to work on it.

Oh and speaking of Anti Semitism? I find it interesting that internationally I get great service using my regular T Mobile phone and/or blackberry with only a minimal increase in monthly charges (average under $50 per month for phone AND data). In Israel, in order to do it on the cheap you have to rent a phone there from the phone monopoly or pay quadruple the charges you would pay in the rest of the world. Those self hating Jew bastards in Israel!!

Maybe they should rename it J-Mobile?

A Jew using T-Mobile is like a Jew driving a Mercedes. Why patronize a German company?
T-Mobile is wholly owned by Deutsche Telekom.
Deutsche Telekom was formed in 1996 from the German government-owned Deutsche Bundepost, which replaced Hitler's Deutsche Reichpost after the war.
The German government still owns about 30% of the company.
T-Mobile's website makes international calling available in a fictitious country called "Palestine," where the rate is $1.49 a minute.
To use T-Mobile in Israel, the Nazi bastards will charge you a whopping $2.99 a minute.
What's next Lola? Why not buy a Krups coffee maker, Agfa film and Bayer aspirin!

esther said...

So everyone with a T-Mobile cell phone is schnauzer walking,
sauerbraten with spaetzle eating, Bach listening, lederhosen wearing, leipziger gose imbibing Nazi.

As a classical musician, I have to protest your invoking the name of Bach with that of the Nazis. Wagner, yes, Bach, no!

(BTW I am of German Jewish descent)

esther said...

To be safe, I should've cited Buxtehude.

What Lola Wants said...

Oh Out of Rightfield, I proudly use my Krups coffee maker and years ago I proudly drove a Mercedes Benz sedan to PROUDLY show I'm still here! I don't understand why you are so upset. A few months ago during a long Saturday night discussion on your blog you told everyone that your father was raised by Christians during the holocaust and by your logic in association in unprecedented times is therefore a Christian. A half Christian like you shouldn't be so upset.

I have no problem with German products. In fact, my family had a great time at Germany-Epcot at Oktoberfest, where we had kosher food and lots of drinking music. A lot of fun, I recommend it.

I think it is time to move on from that nonsense. In fact, I thought the Mercedes buses or taxis that every Jew in Israel rides in are pretty nice.

If you must continue the boycott, when is enough time for it to expire, 100 years? So by 2048 will be good for you?

Honestly, which products from the states that participated in the inquisition have you boycotted? How about spaghetti? ...damn Mediterraneans (http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/117217/a_short_history_of_spaghetti.html)

This has become a minhag (tradition) amongst many Jews, and at some point becomes ridiculous. This is the sideshow distraction that gives people an emotional reason to be pissed off at something or someone. I have a very hard time believing that if you buy a German product, you are somehow appeasing or forgiving past behavior. It really is childish, and in many ways self-defeating.

Out Of Rightfield said...

I think it depends on which German product. Companies that actually assisted the Nazis or used Jewish slave labor or made poison for the gas chambers will stay on my list.
Deutsche Telekom may get some leeway.
Remember the Mercedes buses in Israel are reparations from Germany.

Does Noam know about these family outings?

Out of Rightfield,
Since you are the judge and high executioner as to just about everything, now that you posted your picture I couldn't stop laughing!
Those women on The View were right. It's something that has been bothering me for years. Most Orthodox women are the WORST DRESSERS!!! No wonder you are so angry no one ever taught you how to take care of yourself!! You can dress tsinus-dik (modestly) and still look great but wow, no taste!!! The snood look has been "out" for at least 8 years already! I wouldn't be caught dead looking like that especially in Fairway!

@out of rightfield

I hope so. It is a great time. I think everyone should go there. The kids had mac and cheese, and I think I had the chicken. You have to give 24 hours notice so the food is there when you schedule your meal. There is music and the beer steins are huge.

You should go.

Out Of Rightfield said...

The View women talked about snoods?

Out Of Rightfield said...

I Googled The View and orthodox women and saw the clip. Boy, am I behind the times.

esther said...

I thnk snoods are great for a bad hair day and they go with my post-hippie look but they pack all sorts of unintended meaning in Teaneck, So I'm limited to wearing them to Renaissance Faires.
